Objective of the course: The main objective of the course is to provide a bird's eye view of the basic concepts of epidemiological methods applied in cancer research and state-of-the-art of caner epidemiology by site, both worldwide and regional. Specific aims include: · Help non-epidemiologists in better understanding of epidemiologic literature. · Encourage non-epidemiologists to contribute to epidemiologic research. · Encourage use of registry date in clinical and epidemiologic research. · Overview of statistical methods applied in epidemiologic studies · Minimize the gap between clinicians and epidemiologists to be able to use and understand a common language.
By the end of the course, participants should be able to · Read and understand literature related to cancer epidemiology · Contribute in epidemiologic studies and perform simple statistical analysis of data. · Planning of research protocols based on registry data. · Know when to seek help of statisticians/epidemiologists and speak a common language with them
